Hip Pain

Hip Labral Tear

The hip labrum is a thick cuff of fibrous tissue that lines the hip socket. The labrum provides a smooth surface for the head of the femur to glide within the socket and also cushions the joint.

Hip labrum tears can be caused by heavy physical activity, repetitive motions, and trauma. A tear of the hip labrum can cause pain and interfere with normal motion of the hip joint, and may cause a locking or catching sensation in the hip with certain motions.

Conservative treatment options include physical therapy, steroid injections, anti-inflammatory medications, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), and Bone Marrow Concentrate (BMC) therapy.
