Ankle / Foot Pain

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis is an inflammation and irritation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of connective tissue that spans across the bottom of the foot, extending from the heel to the toes. The fascia stretches and becomes taut when one’s body weight is applied to the foot. With repetitive stress and overuse, the fascia can become irritated and inflamed. This condition is commonly seen in runners, the obese, and those with flat feet. Symptoms are classically most severe first thing in the morning when first getting out of bed and applying pressure to the feet. Pain can be felt in the arch, the heel, or both.

Treatment for Plantar Fasciitis may include rest, ice, stretching, orthotics, splints, physical therapy, anti-inflammatories, steroid injections, and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).
